In The Thick Of It.....

So, I've started like 5 or 6 posts over the last 6 weeks only to hit the delete button because I've lost my train of thought due to toddler poop because of  potty training regression, infant poop blow outs, naps that don't last long enough, or a cold that turned into an unexpected trip to the hospital that landed us in the PICU for a week.
Bottom line: having 2 kids is a whole new ball game. Period. I have no clue how mommas to multiple kidlets find the time to brush their teeth let alone write a blog post! How I'm writing this now is a miracle of the Lord. I will try to make this quick as I am sure something more important will pull me my husband who has been throwing up all week. March has been so lovely.
All joking aside, this last month has been difficult, but I have learned a lot and I still have so much to be thankful for. Really. Like how thankful am I for modern medicine, doctors and children's hospitals?? So VERY thankful. While I wouldn't want to relive the last few weeks, I am thankful for the experience. I am thankful because I will forever have the ability to sympathize with mommas whose babies are hooked up to machines, IV's, and feeding tubes.

And I saw and experienced a love and outpouring like I never imagined by so many. New friends and old, near and far.  I was humbled beyond measure by the many prayers that went up for my girl. And as if I didn't already love my church family a ton, my appreciation and love for them grew tenfold.
I am thankful for our families that took take of Cooper, for all the people who visited at the hospital, the dozens of texts, I'm thankful for my 89 year old grandmother who came to rock the baby so I could play with Cooper when we came home from the hospital while my husband had to go out of town for a week, my mother and sister-in-law who cleaned my house before we got home, my sister who came to visit Lucy everyday, for the meals made, and the flowers, snacks, magazines, gas cards, and bottled water sent by my sweet friends and even from some people I have never even met.
Basically, I learned even more about the Golden Rule and doing unto others this past month. I will be sure to pay it forward and am looking forward to doing so when I can. Thank you to those who thought about and prayed for my girl and my family. I will be forever grateful. Seriously.
While March has been filled with the worst illnesses that have struck every member of my little family, a traveling husband, a booked-then-cancelled trip to Disney, and the worst weather I can remember, I know that this is just a season. This too shall pass. Good times will come again. And it is up to me to glean some nuggets of goodness and be thankful for them. I was humbled by a Facebook post the other day and have tried to remind myself of these words from a Sovereign Grace song:
"Shall I take from your hands your blessings, yet not welcome any pain? Shall I thank you for times of sunshine yet grumble in days of rain? Shall I love you in times of plenty, then leave you in days of drought? Shall I trust when I reap a harvest, but when winter winds blow, then doubt?"

Well, times up. gotta go tend to my people and enjoy this Easter weekend.

  1. The pictures of Lucy hooked up to all those cords breaks my heart. :( But she is beautiful, and the first picture I think shows just how much so! Us busy mommies understand life takes place over blogging. I love the Easter pictures, Easter is one of my FAVORITE Holidays:) I hope you and that beautiful little family of yours have a fantastic one! xo

    1. Thanks Laurie! I hope you are feeling well! can't wait to see pics of sweet little Savanna real soon!

  2. I just stumbled across your corner of the internet here... and so glad I did. i completely identify with the growing pains of having two children. Trust me, it does get easier. So glad to hear your beautiful family is on the mend. Prayers and blessings for all of you.

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by and the kind words! I really appreciate it!
